Volkswagen released its seventh generation of its popular Jetta sedan in 2019 by introducing exciting improvements. In the Volkswagen brand’s celebrated tradition, it has continued to bring desired updates to the Jetta in more recent years. Now that your attention is centered on driving home in a beautiful Jetta soon, you may be wondering what the differences are between the 2021 Jetta and its 2022 counterpart. Many updates have been made to the Jetta between these two model years, and our Volkswagen of Milwaukee North reps are ready to show them off to you.
One of the first things you will notice about the 2021 and 2022 Jetta when you compare them through test drives is their performance capabilities. The 2021 Volkswagen Jetta receives 147 horsepower from a 1.4-liter turbocharged, four-cylinder engine. Performance capabilities have been upgraded for the 2022 version of the Jetta. Its 1.5-liter turbo, four-cylinder engine creates 158 horsepower. For the 2021 and 2022 model years, both an eight-speed auto transmission and a six-speed manual transmission are offered at different trim levels.
Volkswagen has fine-tuned the exterior design of the Jetta for the 2022 model year. In both model years, you will find an expansive grille with a rounded nose, a waterfall-like hood, and a raked roof. They also have a pair of angled pinstripes that add sporty definition to the sides. However, in 2022, the Jetta shows off the restyled front and rear bumpers and a fresh look on the nose. Specifically, the grille has been refreshed with a central, horizontal-running bar that touches the LED headlights.
The updates to the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta continue throughout with new feature availability. The dashboard has been slightly restyled with a modernized look. It features a Digital Cockpit system for the driver’s instrumentation gauges for the first time in 2022. The top 2022 Jetta trim level also adds wireless functionality for the smart device app connections. Some optional safety features have become standard on more trim levels in the 2022 model year. These include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and forward collision mitigation. In both 2021 and 2022, the Jetta is equipped with heated seats, USB ports, emergency assistance, rain-sensing wipers, a dual-zone auto climate control system, a wireless charging pad, and other equipment in select or all trims.
With many thoughtful improvements made to the 2022 Jetta, it makes sense to compare the two model years in detail.
